The newest Motorola smartphone is the Droid RAZR. This is easily their most talked about smartphone. It is the main competitor to the iPhone 4, and obviously a lot of people are torn as to which to buy. If you are considering the RAZR, here is a review to help you determine if it is the right phone for you:
This phone is only .28 inches, which according to Motorola makes it the thinnest phone on the planet. That’s debatable. However, when you turn it on its’ side the phone does indeed seem to disappear.
The phone only weights 4 ½ ounces, which makes it extremely easy to carry around.
Even without the screen protector or case, this phone is made to last. The Gorilla Glass that protects the phone is almost un-scratchable, and is nearly impossible to break. Also, the Kevlar protection on the back will keep the phone safe if it gets dropped.
Also, the nanotechnology coating keeps the phone safe if you drop it in water. However, it doesn’t make the phone “water proof”. While it can last a few seconds in water, don’t take it scuba diving.
Due to the Kevlar design in the back, you cannot remove the battery and charge it. You have to charge the whole phone. For heavy users, this is a big inconvenience.
Since it operates on the Verizon 4G network, you won’t have to worry about dropped calls or static interference unless you are in the middle of nowhere.
Music and video quality
The sound and picture quality of this phone is excellent. It would be a great purchase if you listen to music or watch videos a lot.
You are not going to find this phone for Wal-Mart prices. At most sites it goes for around $650. But obviously that is not surprising for a phone that competes with the iPhone 4.
The camera’s auto-focus feature is a bit slow. When it does focus, the picture taking quality is mediocre when compared with other smartphones. For one that’s as pricey as the Droid, this is a bit surprising.
This phone is very wide, which makes it hard to use for people with smaller hands. It is nearly impossible to use one-handed.
There are some slight drawbacks to it, but overall the positives outweigh the negatives. If you plan on using your phone to listen to music and watch movies frequently, then this Motorola smartphone would be ideal.
